It’s the middle of the summer and everyone I know is going or has gone on a vacation of one sort or other. Some of us head for different shores or places and some to see family—or both--but everyone has to pack, even if minimally.
Me, I always aspire to be a minimalist when packing, but it never turns out that way. And I am always wishing that I could hire someone to do all my packing for me, because I hate it!! (And I always wait to the last minute, which only puts the pressure on more.)
I pack a ton of shoes because my feet aren’t the most happy of feet when I am walking a ton. (So this means I usually start with a small suitcase but soon have to repack because the shoes take up so much room). Then there are my toiletries...
The older I get the more I need a large toiletry bag, or maybe several. Definite must haves and a step up from the heavy-duty plastic bags in the supermarket. I start out with the plan to organize everything, but never end up that way.
Then I make sure that I pack a few necessities in my carry-on, because I have learned the hard way that it is not always easy to find things that fit me in a foreign country. Anyway, it takes a while and sometimes that makes it frustrating, to say the least.
So now my carry-on is stuffed with my meds, the make-up must haves including a small toothbrush and toothpaste, a change of clothes, a sweater, a scarf (just in case), a bathing suit, if applicable, and my teeny squirt of a perfume atomizer that I got years ago at London Heathrow. Actually, Little Squirt, has been one of the most reliable atomizers I have ever had. No spilling or leaking. Really easy to fill – it just sucks up the perfume into the atomizer…1,2,3, done. Not only did I get one, but my whole family did. And then came the quest for the atomizer in the U.S.
Which I found, and oh boy, was that a find! And now we have them for you.
