The inspiration for the JennaViv Collection came to Mankin as she traveled through Europe and was struck by the rich, dramatic Mediterranean architecture she saw, especially at the location where Cleopatra and Marc Antony would rendezvous. The jewelry is handcrafted in Europe from 18K gold and diamonds that are extremely high in color and clarity. All the diamonds in the JennaViv Collection are hand-set, which makes the prongs stronger because they are fitted to the diamond better than machine-set diamonds. There are currently 12 designs in the collection, with plans for more pieces to be added later this fall. Prices will range from $500 to $20,000.
Mankin designs jewelry with an emphasis on the dramatic, and believes that even striking jewelry should be comfortable enough to wear every day. She also believes jewelry should make a woman feel great. "Every woman should have a touch of glamour in her life, with a 'go-to, signature piece of jewelry' that makes her smile every time she puts it on," said Mankin, whose years of experience with fine jewelry while working at Tiffany & Co. and Charriol led her into the field of jewelry design.
