That Perfect Piece

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Check out this article of the Secrets of Successful Jewelry buying. You may look at it and think, “Oh yeah I knew that.” But it really is nice to have a good solid break down of how to find that perfect piece.

I like the part about ‘young children’. That is so true, the dangly stuff gets torn up with the little ones. I should probably carry around a first aid kit just in case my wifes ear gets a violent tug. The age section is helpful too when your dealing with clips and what not. I’m not the best at helping my wife put on her bracelets and necklaces. But I’ll have to keep an eye out for the extra big hooks on necklaces.

When it comes to hints I don’t get any. I just get lists of items. With how much people blog these days you could probably just follow blogs and figure out what they want, or ask them flat out. Either one works. Happy Guessing…err Shopping!

What do you think? Can you find the perfect piece? Have you already? Would you even know?

Happy Boxing Day!

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

I heard a theory the other day that retailers are slashing prices right now but to get the REAL deals hang on till New Years. And you have a sale here on The Passionate Collector with the discount code “HOHO”. In lieu of Boxing Day what did you return this year? And more importantly what goods did you get? Come away with any new cool traditions? This year I really wanted to master the homemade noodles so I mixed those with the turkey meat and it turned out really nice.

I also dipped marshmallows with pretzels to make some light desserts for Christmas dinner. I think they turned out ok but when you touch the chocolate it instantly melts. Maybe freeze them longer? I have 365 days to perfect it till next year.

Have a great holiday season everyone! Much love from the Passionate Collector team!

Christmas Already? People don’t get stressed.

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

The days are long but Christmas has come so fast this year. Sorry for the re-post but I mean really folks, this year is finishing fast. If your like me and storming the mall to shop for the first time this year you might be a little stressed. Ok here is the solution, follow my steps and enjoy a stress free holiday.

Holiday Stress-Free Remedy

  • Melt chocolate, dip pretzels, eat, repeat.
  • Make some homemade noodles. I’m doing this for Christmas dinner and its pretty fun actually.
  • Wrap presents really slow. I know it sounds weird but it kinda brings the blood pressure down.
  • Pump that Christmas music loud.
  • Clean off all the icicles on your roof with a broom.

And that is pretty much it. The above steps have kept me pretty calm and reduced the stress from searching for that perfect piece of jewelry for the wife on the Guys Guide. But then again the Guys Guide does all the work so I think its just me. And remember, a Passionate Collector Gift Certificate is always an option.

What keeps you from stressing out during the holidays?

Christmas is in 7 days

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Yeah pretty sure I am freaking out here. I mean I have most of my shopping done…but do I? I think I’m going to get my lady a gift certificate on the collector. I mean women love jewelry but they also love to shop. Here are my ideas I have for the misses if I don’t go the gift cert route:

The Long and Luscious Amber and Silver earrings.

She has blond hair and I have always been a fan of amber but haven’t gone for it yet. Thoughts?

Next is the Butterscotch Amber Pendant.

Anyway those are my thoughts so far. Feel free to chime in on your opinion.

Everyone Loves a Sale

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

You have until December 27th to get 40% off the Jenna Viv collection and until New Years Eve to get 20% off everything else. Just enter the discount code ‘HOHO‘ during checkout and enjoy the savings.

It’s our way of saying thanks and to make your holiday a little bit sweeter. Speaking of sweets, if you have any delectable holiday deserts I’m looking for a couple additions this year. I’m thinking of a doughnut recipe this year, send them if you got em’.
